Sumner Stabbing Leaves 2 Dead, Suspect In Custody

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department say a 29-year-old man has been arrested, accused of killing his mother and father.

SUMNER, WA — A 29-year-old man has been arrested, accused of stabbing and killing his parents.

According to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department, their deputies were called to a home near the intersection of SR 410 and 171st Ave Ct E in unincorporated Sumner around 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

The sheriff's department says the 911 caller told them they had seen a father and son fighting, and that the father had been left injured lying on the ground outside his home. At some point, the caller also held the son at gunpoint, though by the time they called 911 the son had retreated back into the house.

When deputies arrived, they say the son walked up and immediately surrendered. Upon searching the house, they found the suspect's 61-year-old mother dead inside. The father was rushed to a nearby hospital but died shortly afterwards.

The suspect has been booked into Pierce Count Jail for two counts of murder. A motive for the stabbings has not been released.
