The event, marking the site of the future Sumner YMCA at 64th Street and 160th Avenue East, takes place Friday, June 7 at 11:30 a.m.

Information from YMCA:

The eager community of Sumner and its surrounding area citizens have long-awaited a YMCA. This momentous, five year process is culminating with a sign raising event at the future site of the Sumner YMCA at the corner of 64 Street and 160 Avenue East. On Friday, June 7 at 11:30am, the community and honored guests will gather to put a stake in the ground of what generous and committed supporters are making possible.

A short presentation will be held with comments from Sumner Mayor Dave Enslow and YMCA President and CEO Bob Ecklund.

“The Sumner Y will be 100,000 square feet of healthy living space, including: recreational and warm water therapy pools, group fitness classes, a sauna and steam room, community areas, a teen center, and a fantastic arts center. The Y will serve as a community hub for Sumner, giving people of all ages and backgrounds a place to belong and feel at home,” said Bob Ecklund, YMCA President and CEO.
