Surprise Road Paving In Sumner Tonight

SUMNER, WA - Look out for some unexpected road work going on in Sumner tonight. The contractor in charge of repaving 142nd Avenue will begin adding a top layer of pavement in order to take advantage of the nice weather.

The paving starts at 9 p.m. Tuesday. There will be one lane open in each direction along 142nd Avenue. But after the repaving is done, the asphalt has to cool, which will limit access to driveways.

Here's the rest of the planned construction along 142nd:

• Wednesday, May 16, starting at 32nd Street and moving north/west on 142nd/24th Street to the UP railroad tracks (yellow line), paving the east/north side of the road.
• Thursday, May 17, starting at the UP tracks and moving west and south to 32nd Street, paving the west side of the road (yellow line).
• Friday, May 18, starting at 32nd Street and moving south to Tacoma Avenue bridge, paving west side of road.
