Deadly Crash On SR-167 At SR-410 Likely To Cause Traffic Delays

A collision between two cars and one semi truck has killed one person and is likely to cause significant traffic delays Friday afternoon.

BONNEY LAKE, WA — A three-vehicle collision on State Route 167 has killed one driver and is likely to cause lingering traffic backups during the Friday evening commute.

Update: As of 5:30 p.m, the road has been reopened. Backups may persist through the evening.

Washington State Patrol first reported the collision around 2 p.m., saying two cars and a semi had collided on southbound SR-167 near the interchange with SR-410.

According to investigators, the crash was caused when a pick-up truck hit the back of a passenger car in the rightmost lane of SR-167. The passenger car rolled into a ditch, but the pick-up continued, crashing into the rear end of the semi's trailer.

The driver of the pick-up was killed. No other injuries have been reported.

East Pierce Fire, the Washington Department of Transportation and Washington State Patrol all have emergency responders on scene, and traffic was diverted from southbound 167 onto SR-410.
