Two Seriously Injured in Crash on Lake Tapps
Witnesses reported seeing a personal watercraft traveling at a high rate of speed crash into a dock on the 3000 block of 179th Avenue East on Island 21.

Two people were seriously injured in a personal watercraft crash on Lake Tapps just after 5 p.m. Friday, according to a press release issued by East Pierce Fire and Rescue.
The Tacoma News Tribune reports the injured were two men, ages 20 and 21, who were in a Yamaha WaveRunner.
Numerous witnesses called 911 to report that a personal watercraft carrying two people crashed at a high rate of speed into a dock on the 3000 block of 179th Avenue East on Island 21, an offshoot of Driftwood Point.

Crews from East Pierce Fire and Rescue, including the marine unit, responded to the scene to find both patients on the ground, nearly 30 feet from the dock, where they had been thrown by the impact of the crash. Both were transported to local trauma centers with potential life-threatening injuries.
Pierce County Sherriff’s deputies are investigating the cause of the crash.
