What's Up: Great American Picnic This Weekend

The event pits the cities of Sumner and Puyallup against each other and the winning municipality gets to take up a trophy along with bragging rights. Meanwhile proceeds go toward helping to welcome troops home.

From volleyball to softball, tug of war to a water ballooon toss - if you're looking for something fun for the whole family this weekend, the Great American Picnic takes place Saturday, July 20 at the Daffodil Valley Sports Complex in Sumner.

The event pits the cities of Sumner and Puyallup against each other and the winning municipality gets to take up a trophy along with bragging rights. 

According to the event website, each team is made up of city officials, community members, and partner units from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, the 2-2 Strykers with Puyallup and the 593rd Sustainment Brigade with Sumner.

The competitions are open to all and all proceeds to toward the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) to help welcome troops home.

The Daffodil Valley Sports Complex is located at 5604 Graham Ave, Sumner. The event starts at 11 a.m. with music through 6 p.m. Click here to see the full event schedule.
