WSDOT: Prepare For 410 Backups This Weekend In Sumner

Some upcoming construction will make travel a hassle for some commuters this weekend.

SUMNER, WA — The Washington State Department of Transportation is planning some construction this weekend which, they say, will likely cause some big backups in the Sumner area.

Starting Friday night, crews will be working on State Route 410 near the intersection with Traffic Avenue.

Crews will be on scene from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, and then again from 9 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday. During that time, all eastbound and westbound lanes of the 410 will be closed in the area.

WSDOT is offering suggested detours to help travelers get through the area during the closure.

Eastbound drivers taking the SR 167 or SR 512 are encouraged to detour around using East Main Avenue, Shaw Road East, Pioneer Way East, on to SR 162 and finally back on to the 410 past the construction.

Westbound drivers coming from Bonney Lake or Tehaleh can take Valley Avenue East to Main Street, then ride Traffic Avenue to the on-ramp to westbound SR 410.

During the closure, crews will be washing and painting the underside of the new Traffic Avenue underpass. Though they won't be on the 410 itself, WSDOT says it would be unsafe to do with traffic overhead.
