ISSAQUAH, WA — A second fire ripped through Issaquah's Egg & Us restaurant early Wednesday, leaving the building effectively destroyed. Eastside Fire & Rescue crews rushed back to the building around 3:45 a.m., finding the restaurant's roof already engulfed in flames. Less than 12 hours before, firefighters had knocked down a separate fire at the Gilman Village restaurant, which ignited after hours.

Eastside battalion chief Dana Schutter told Patch that the building is likely a total loss and suffered a roof collapse. Firefighters were forced to adopt a defensive strategy early on, due to the size of the blaze. An investigation into the fire's origin is underway from the King County Fire Marshal's Office. Schutter said investigating a fire of this size could take a week or two.

Before the second fire, the Egg & Us thanked customers on social media for nearly a decade of support and pledged to return after repairs. In another post, the restaurant asked diners to show support by visiting its sister restaurant, the 12th Ave. Cafe, located just down the street at 775 Northwest Gilman Boulevard.
