The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 2878 represents the firefighters and support staff of Eastside Fire & Rescue, Duvall Fire District 45, Fall City Fire District 27, and the City of Snoqualmie fire department. These agencies provide fire protection, emergency medical and rescue services to much of East King County including Issaquah, Sammamish, North Bend, Carnation, Fall City, Duvall, Snoqualmie and surrounding areas.
The men and women of our organization take pride in providing emergency service to our citizens. Our members also give back to the community by taking an active role with volunteer and community service activities. In 1999, we established our scholarship as a way to encourage and reward those high school seniors who share in this effort. The scholarship program is funded by the employees of IAFF Local 2878, and is awarded to a high school senior from one of the six public high schools in our service area.Â
In 2004, we expanded the scholarship to include a son or daughter of one of our own members. Each year the scholarship is awarded based on the applicant’s community service and volunteer activities. This marks the 13th year of our scholarship and since its inception, more than $39,000 have been awarded to local students.Â
