High School Musicians From Sammamish Encouraged to Apply for GRAMMY Music Camp

High school musicians from Sammamish and other parts of the country are encouraged to apply for the GRAMMY Camp, a summer program held in New York City and Los Angeles, organizers said.

The camps enable students to immerse themselves in all aspects of music. In Los Angeles, the camp will held from July 9 to 18 and hosted at the USC Thornton School of Music. The facutly will be made up of GRAMMY winners and nominees. Out of all the applications, approximately 75 students will be selected to attend the Los Angeles camp.

In New York City, the camp will run from  Aug. 2 to 8 at the Converse "Rubber Tracks" studio in Brooklyn. Similar to Los Angeles, this camp will be taught by GRAMMY winners and nominees. The New York City camp will include a launch party in Times Square. Organizers will select about 35 students to attend the New York City camp.

There will be field trips, guest artists and classes. The Los Angeles camp costs $2,200, excluding travel expenses. The New York City camp costs $1,800 and also does not include travel expenses. Organizers note that financial assistance is available.

Interested high school students can fill out the online application by March 31 and then contact grammycamp@grammy.com to ask for an extension to complete the full application, GRAMMY Foundation spokeswoman Christina Cassidy said in an email.
Students who are picked to attend the GRAMMY camps will be notified in late April or May.

People who are between 21 and 25 years old can apply to be a GRAMMY camp counselor. The deadline to apply for this position is April 30.
