Sammamish Families: Swap Halloween Costumes in the Area

Halloween comes just once a year. As a result Halloween costumes, well, they get worn one time … maybe twice if there’s a younger sibling willing to wear it another year. Chances are, your costumes are still in good enough shape to be passed along to another child. From that simple idea, every kid’s favorite holiday just got more parent- and planet-friendly, thanks to the second annual National Costume Swap Day.

Family-friendly website

Macaroni Kid Snoqualmie Valley – Issaquah is partnering with local businesses Small Threads, Adventure Kids, and Totz Drop-n-Play to bring, not one but two, Costume Swap Day events to our area! According to Diana Reul-Shapiro, co-Publisher/Editor of the website, "A costume swap is recycling at its most fun. Kids get new-to-them costumes, and parents get to save money and the planet." Through the efforts of a grassroots, non-profit known as Green Halloween, families in the area are being invited to take a greener approach to Halloween. With two swap locations – one in Issaquah and another in North Bend – costume drop-off and swapping is sure to be convenient for Snoqualmie Valley parents.

Something as simple as a costume swap does make a difference. "It may seem like a small thing," said Dana Verhoff, co-Publisher/Editor of Macaroni Kid Snoqualmie Valley-Issaquah, "But this event is about bringing the community together, raising awareness, and showing our children a better way to celebrate."

Anytime between now and Oct. 7, participants are encouraged to drop off swap-able costumes during business hours at one of these locations:
