Sammamish Police to Have Special Speed Emphasis Patrols Through Sunday

Sammamish police will be continuing special emphasis patrols through Sunday to stop motorists from speeding, as part of a campaign sponsored by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.

The state safety group reported that driving faster than the speed limit contributes to a third of all fatal automobile crashes in Washington.

On July 21, three area teenagers - including a 16-year-old boy from Sammamish - were taken to area hospitals after the driver lost control of a Subaru Impreza and crashed into a fence and tree at Southeast 25th Way and Beaver Lake Way Southeast.
