The Sammamish City Council selected Councilmember Tom Odell on Tuesday to be the new deputy mayor for 2011.
The seven-member Council voted unanimously for the former Boeing commercial aircraft marketing director to take the number two position behind Mayor Don Gerend.
Odell was sworn into office in January 2010. The deputy mayor for 2010 was Councilmember Nancy Whitten.

City Manager Ben Yazici thanked Whitten for her service as deputy mayor, saying that she always asked solid questions.
