Sammamish City Employee Dawn Sanders is Fine After Minor Fall at Fourth of July Event
City Councilman Mark Cross asked about her at Tuesday's City Council meeting.

At Tuesday's Sammamish City Council meeting, Councilman Mark Cross asked publicly how Dawn Sanders, the city volunteer coordinator, was doing. He said he heard that she hurt herself at the city's Fourth of July celebration.
City Manager Ben Yazici said that her injury was not serious. So, on Wednesday, Sammamish Patch sent Sanders an email to ask a good, old-fashioned question: How are you?
Here is her response:

I am doing pretty well, and it wasn't serious. A young child stepped in front of me. As I was falling I twisted hoping that I could turn fast enough so that the child landed on top of me instead of the other way around. In doing so I tore some muscles in the back of my leg. I hope the child is OK, his mom said he was scared more than anything.
The most unfortunate part is that my daughter is getting married in 10 days. A very free spirited young woman - she and her fiance decided to celebrate their wedding by doing a family run at the Warrior Dash. My husband and I have been training for months in hopes that our very competitive children wouldn't leave us in the dust. I doubt I will be able to join them as they leap through fire and role in the mud.

She also helps the Sammamish Chamber of Commerce and has assisted with the SAMMI Awards - which honor the civic contributions of residents.
