SNOQUALMIE, WA — Washington State Patrol troopers nabbed a large amount of fentanyl and heroin during a traffic stop near Snoqualmie earlier this month, investigators announced Tuesday.

State patrol said two troopers stopped a vehicle for following too closely on eastbound Interstate 90 at State Route 18, late in the afternoon on Aug. 4. During the traffic stop, the trooper noted the driver's "extreme nervous behavior" and asked to search the vehicle. According to WSP, the driver agreed, and troopers called in assistance from local police to provide a K-9.

Troopers said the police dog alerted them to a lunch box behind the driver's seat, which contained 10 pounds of fentanyl and two pounds of heroin. Together, investigators estimated a "street value" above $6 million for the drugs.
