Issaquah Stabbing: New Details Emerge In Uber Driver's Death

Two 21-year-olds are being held on $2 million bail after an Uber driver was found stabbed to death inside a crashed car in Issaquah.

ISSAQUAH, WA — A King County judge has set bail at $2 million for a man and woman accused of fatally stabbing an Uber driver in Issaquah earlier in the week.

According to the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the judge found probable cause to hold Olivia Bebic, 21, and Devin Wade, 21, on suspicion of second-degree murder. Prosecutors said both suspects live in the Bellevue area.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man killed as Cherno Ceesay, 28, of Kirkland.

Ceesay was found Sunday night inside a crashed car on Renton-Issaquah Road with multiple stab wounds, according to prosecutors. Investigators said he was found by neighbors who discovered the vehicle crashed into a tree.

An autopsy by the King County Medical Examiner's Office determined Ceesay's wounds were consistent with being stabbed from behind and ruled the death a homicide.

According to investigators, Uber records obtained through a search warrant showed he had just picked up a fare within 100 yards of the crash site, which originated from an account linked to a phone number belonging to Wade.

Police said the driver's phone was missing from the crash scene, and GPS data later revealed Ceesay's phone and Wade's phone traveled to the Factoria area immediately following the crash. Using Bellevue traffic cameras, detectives located a white Nissan Altima traveling on the route in the same timeframe, and officers found the vehicle parked near the Factoria Mall Tuesday night. A few hours later, officers arrested the pair in Bellevue on suspicion of shoplifting and impounded the car on a warrant.

According to court filings, detectives found Ceesay's phone inside the car, along with two knives with blood on them.

Detectives said Bebic told them in an interview that Wade is her boyfriend and that both were delivering food in Issaquah late Sunday afternoon before returning to Factoria. When shown a picture of the victim, Bebic told police he did not look familiar. When confronted with the cell phone data, police said Bebic asked for a lawyer.

Prosecutors said both suspects are likely to remain in jail until a felony charging decision, expected Monday. Charging documents are likely to contain new details from the police investigation.
