Overdue Hiker Found Safe After 8 Days Missing Near North Bend
A 25-year-old man missing since June 18 was found near the Middle Fork Trailhead on Sunday morning. He survived on berries and river water.
NORTH BEND, WA — A hiker missing in the North Bend area since June 18 was found by a trail runner Sunday morning, according to the King County Sheriff's Office. Officials said Andrew Devers, 25, was hiking near Middle Fork Campground when he was reported overdue, eight days before he was rescued. The sheriff's office and trained search and rescue volunteers searched the area over several days but did not locate Devers.
On Sunday morning, the sheriff's office said a runner spotted him near the Middle Fork Trailhead, and medics responded to take him to a local hospital for evaluation. Devers told the sheriff's office he survived by eating berries and drinking river water.
