Providence Point Traffic Signal Project Is Complete
At long last, Issaquah's newest intersection is humming along with a new traffic signal and sidewalks to increase safety for all.
ISSAQUAH, WA — A new intersection on Southeast 43rd Way is complete, nearly 16 years after the project was first envisioned. Construction included realigning the driveways that lead to Providence Point and Forest Village, relocating utilities, building new sidewalks in the area and adding a traffic signal.
Issaquah staffers first met with the Providence Point Homeowners Association to discuss installing the new signal back in 2005, officials said, but the project stalled over the years due to lack of construction funds. Efforts renewed in 2018, and last year the Issaquah City Council approved a bid to Rodarte Construction, and work began on March 16, 2020.
"This has been a long time coming, and I'm so thankful for the hard work of our community, City Council and staff to make this a reality," wrote Issaquah Mayor Mary Lou Pauly. "This new signal not only enhances safety for drivers, but also pedestrians and cyclists."
