Remembering 9/11: Two Ways for Sammamish Residents to do so

Among the many ways that people in the Seattle area will mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on Sunday, here is an event in Issaquah and one with a direct link to Sammamish:

• City of Issaquah 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony: The event will be at 1 p.m. at the Issaquah Community Center, 301 Rainier Blvd. S. City officials will join the Issaquah Police Department, Eastside Fire & Rescue and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3436 for the memorial. Bill Lokey, an emergency response official from the area, will give a talk about going to New York City after the attacks to help with rescue and recovery efforts. There will be an honor guard, presentation of colors and a 21-gun salute.

• Sammamish Symphony Performance in West Seattle: The Sammamish Symphony will join the Cantare Vocal Ensemble and choruses from the area in a "9/11 Never Forget" performance. Among the pieces that will be played include: Mozart's Requiem. The performance is at 3 p.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 4152 42nd Ave. SW in Seattle. Ticket proceeds and donations will go to support the Twin Towers Orphan Fund.
