Teen Dies After Jumping Into Snoqualmie River

Search teams pulled a 17-year-old boy from the river nearly 40 minutes after he jumped from the Reinig Bridge, the sheriff's office said.

SNOQUALMIE, WA — A 17-year-old boy died Tuesday after jumping off a bridge into the Snoqualmie River, according to authorities.

Rescue teams from the King County Sheriff's Office, Eastside Fire and Snoqualmie Fire were called to the Snoqualmie River reports of a possible drowning around 4:30 p.m.

According to a sheriff's office spokesman, a group of young people had been jumping into the water from the Reinig Bridge. The teen boy jumped off the top of the bridge, approximately 40-feet high, and did not resurface. He was found nearly 40 minutes later by the King County Marine Unit and rushed to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
