Sammamish Detectives Seek Car Prowl, Fraud Suspect

SAMMAMISH, WA — Sammamish investigators released several surveillance photos Monday, hoping they will help identify a man suspected of stealing a wallet from a car, then using a stolen credit card in several locations.

According to the King County Sheriff's Office, a car prowl victim contacted the authorities on March 10 after learning his wallet was taken from his car on the 24900 block of Southeast 42nd Drive. The victim told detectives he discovered the wallet was missing after receiving a fraud alert from his credit card company showing a declined transaction at a nearby gas station.

After checking his recent transactions and closing the accounts, detectives said it appeared the thief had already used the card for several other transactions at other gas stations. The detective assigned to the case visited the locations and assembled several surveillance photos showing the same man buying items around the area. The man is shown wearing a unique hat and long hair, but facial features are hidden behind a mask. Detectives said he arrived at each store in a silver van.

Investigators ask anyone who thinks they may recognize the suspect to contact the non-emergency number at 206-296-3311 and reference the Sammamish case.
