Sammamish Police Warn Of Ballots Being Stolen From Mailboxes

Police said the postmaster notified them Friday morning about mail thefts that included several ballots.

SAMMAMISH, WA — Sammamish voters should pay close attention to their mailboxes after reports of numerous mail thefts where ballots were taken, according to police.

The Sammamish Police Department said Friday it was notified by the postmaster that numbers ballots were taken from some mailboxes and paced in others. Police said additional calls reported garbage bags full of mail, which included some ballots. Officers are working to return any recovered mail back to its rightful owners as soon as possible, police said. Anyone who sees something suspicious is encouraged to call 911.

According to King County Elections, all registered voters should have their ballots no later than Monday, Oct. 19. If it does not arrive by then, voters are encouraged to reach out at 206-296-VOTE or print a replacement ballot online.
