Sammamish Residents Have Another Medical Option with New Swedish Center in Redmond

New center has 18 emergency exam rooms and will be open 24 hours daily.

Swedish Medical Center last week opened a 24-hour emergency care facility in Redmond, giving Sammamish residents another option for access to doctors.

The facility, known as Swedish/Redmond, is located at NE 18100 Union Hill Rd., about seven miles north of . The facility phone number is: 425-498-2200. The three-story building covers about 85,000 square feet and has 18 emergency exam rooms, Swedish spokesman Ed Boyle said in a statement.

Doctors will be able to treat stroke patients as well as those suffering from sports injuries, burns, lacerations, broken bones, food poisoning and allergic reactions. The facility also will offer diagnostic imaging services for X-rays, ultrasounds and mammograms.

The primary goal of doctors at the facility, which opened Dec. 21, is to ensure that patients receive care as quickly as possible, Boyle said. That means patients will skip typical triage and registration and go directly to a room, where both will take place.

Swedish estimates that its Redmond emergency department could see 20,000 patients each year. Medical center officials selected Redmond as the site because the city and surrounding ones are experiencing growth, Boyle said.

The building and parking lot cost an estimated $25.5 million, Swedish said. The building's second and third floors will open in February and March, respectively, and house a primary care clinic, among other services. Since 2005, Swedish has operated a facility in Issaquah.
