Summer Memories: What was Your Favorite?

There were many opportunities in Sammamish this summer for good memories to take place.

We were all a little younger in the summer of 2011.

That period between the academic years included trips to and and a note from KOMO News about, at one point in July, only having 78 minutes of temperatures associated with the hot season.

Oh, wait. The summer of 2011 is not officially over.

But summer vacation will soon end, as Sammamish students in the return on face-to-face. students will do the same on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Last week, students returned to class.

So, in the spirit of good memories and good times, Sammamish Patch would like to know: What was your favorite summer memory? And why?

It might have taken place in the city, at one of the many festivals and gatherings, such as among bins of organic produce and hand-made goods at the . Yes, the annual gathering started in May. Or, it might have taken place elsewhere, as you traveled the region, country or world on vacation.

It might have been at the city's , at which . The Teen Fest also featured a , in which young people performed tricks, flips and hops. Good stuff, you know, because successfully doing a board trick, well, can be tricky for some.

The Fourth of July was another big city event with . Or did you brave the water, the pedaling in the saddle and the distance on foot at the community-oriented ?

Or did it involve camping? That was a topic that Sammamish Patch blogger and writer  captured with such humor and eloquence. Or did you go to a tidepool with your kids? Sammamish Patch blogger and writer took on that topic in one of her posts.

Or was your summer filled with roses, berries and gardening? , also a blogger on the site, discussed those topics in her posts.

Earlier in August, thousands gathered at for . Musicians entertained, as people sang along with them. A kids parade went down 228th Avenue Southeast. Martial arts students twirled in the air.

And a boy, who clutched a balloon sword, was able to play with a giant green dragon that towered over him - even as the kid stood on a cement block. 

And students: Don't fret the education that is coming your way. As people say, it's the one thing that others cannot take from you.
