When Does School Start in Sammamish and Issaquah?

The Lake Washington School District recently set its calendars for the next four years

Ok, we know, the pencils, or laptops, are barely being put down, but we know you're planning already for back to school, right?

For students in the Issaquah School District (which includes part of Sammamish), school starts again on Sept. 4, 2013 and adjourns exactly one year from today, June 18, 2014.

The teacher's union and administrators also agreed to a 2014-2015 calendar ahead of time, which can be found here.

In the Lake Washington School District, which recently approved its calendars for the next four years as part of contract negotiations with district teachers, little will change. For 2013-14, school begins Sept. 3 (the day after Labor Day), and ends with a half-day on Tuesday, June 17.

Some key points from the LWSD schedule for the next four years:

  • In most years, school will start the day after Labor Day in September
  • Mid-winter break will remain in place, following the current pattern of two days off plus the Presidents’ Day long weekend
  • Spring break will remain one week
  • Early release will remain on Wednesdays
Copies of the school calendars, together with parent survey results and explanation, are posted online at www.lwsd.org then click on School Calendar.
