"World Series, Here We Come": Eastlake Little League Defeats Montana

The Little League team from Sammamish could make history after beating Montana in the regionals to take a berth at the series championships.

Eastlake Little League smashed through Montana today, winning 13-1 and clearing its path to the Little League World Finals and with a chance to make history in the process.

Twitter exploded with joyful tweets over the news, and the Eastlake Little League summed up the days events in a few simple words rife with meaning: "World Series, here we come."

According the series history on ESPN, the Little League team from Sammamish has never won the championship game. A team from Kirkland won against a team from Chinese Taipei in 1982.

The Little League World Series is contested by 16 teams: the eight winners of the regional tournaments and eight international champions. In 2010, the tournament was determined by double elimination for the first time. The two brackets (the U.S. and international brackets) are divided into two pools. The winner of each pool goes on to a single-elimination championship game within its bracket. Then the U.S. and international champions compete for the World Series title in the championship game.
