CARE Office, Highland Hospital To Host Mental Health Awareness Walk In Charleston
The walk will begin 9:30 a.m. at the parking lot across from Appalachian Power Park at the corner of Morris Street and Smith Street.

The City of Charleston and Highland Hospital have partnered to host a Mental Health Awareness Walk and Cookout on Saturday, May 29. The walk will begin 9:30 a.m. at the parking lot across from Appalachian Power Park at the corner of Morris Street and Smith Street. The walk will go from Morris Street to Quarrier Street to Capitol Street to Smith Street. Upon completion of the walk, a cookout will take place at the corner of Morris Street and Smith Street. Mental Health experts will be on-site to give information about local services.

“During National Mental Health Month, we feel that it is important to highlight mental health awareness and provide resources to folks that need them,” said Emily Hanna, Director of the Coordinated Addiction Response Effort. “With the recent addition of our Mental Health Coordinator we hope to have additional events like this in the future.”
“Highland Hospital is proud to be part of this event. As a community, it is our job to help fight the stigma surrounding mental health,” said Brad Story, Director of Business Development at Highland Hospital. “We need to bring more attention to it and continue healthy conversation on the matter. Because everyone deserves to feel good.”

There is no fee to participate in the Mental Health Awareness Walk or cookout and pre-registration is not required.
