Kanawha County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Kanawha County is August 14. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Kanawha County School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/13: End of First 9 Weeks
• 10/16: No School for Students (Parent-Teacher Conference)

November

• 11/10: No School (Veterans Day)
• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving)

December

• 12/22: End of First Semester
• 12/25 - 12/29: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1: No School (New Year's Day)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday)

March

• 3/2: End of Third 9 Weeks
• 3/29 - 3/30: No School (Spring Break)

April

• 4/2 - 4/6: No School (Spring Break)

May

• 5/8: No School (Primary Election)
• 5/23: Last Day for Students
• 5/30: Prep Day for Closing Schools
