2018 Olympics: Ben Loomis Nordic Combined Schedule, Results

MILWAUKEE, WI — 19-year-old Eau Claire, Wis. native Ben Loomis is shooting for Olympic gold in the Men's Nordic Combined at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

According to Team USA, Loomis, 19 is coming off his first world championships appearance, helping Team USA finish in eighth place. Loomis also won a silver medal at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympic Games, and finished ninth in the normal hill/5K event at the 2017 Nordic Junior World Ski Championships.

“I am very honored,” Loomis told the Leader-Telegram about his selection to the U.S. team. “I’ve been watching the results of my teammates, and I knew I had a good chance. But it’s setting in slowly.”

Nordic Combined, is a combination of ski jumping and cross-country skiing, and the event goes back to the original Olympic Winter Games in France in 1924. This year's event features a 10k race.
