American Girl Dolls Coming to Toys R Us Stores in October

MILWAUKEE -- Get ready, mom and dad.

Starting in October, the popular American Girl dolls once only available in far-away shops or online are coming to Toys R Us Stores.

“For years, girls and their families have been asking for more immediate and convenient ways to shop for and experience American Girl,” Katy Dickson, president of American Girl, said as reported by FOX 6.

In late October American Girl will sell its “Truly Me” dolls at 97 special “shop-in-shops” inside Toys R Us stores. "Wellie Wishers" a new American Girl doll designed for children between 5 to 7 years old, debuts in select Toys R Us stores on Sunday.

Toys R Us stores will be the only U.S. retail store to feature American Girl shop-in-shops in some stores.

In fact, American Girl produts are currently only sold at 20 dedicated U.S. stores in addition to being available online.

Company officials said more Toys R Us locations will open in 2017.

It should be noted that sales of Mattel’s American Girl brand fell 8% last year. In the most recent quarter ended in June, revenue from those products slid 19% year-over-year, the Wall Street Journal has reported.
