The AP program choses one male and one female student from each state and the District of Columbia. The top students chosen have grades of three or higher on the greatest number of AP exams and the highest average score (at least 3.5) on all AP exams they took.
Students take college-level courses while in high school and receive college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the end-of-course AP exams.
