Brookfield Montessori School Offers Fun, Educational Start for Kids
The Amy Montessori School in Brookfield has programs for early childhood through 5K.
For nearly 40 years, the Amy Montessori School in Brookfield has offered an alternative for parents in need of care for their young children.
The school offers programs for early childhood as well as 4K and 5K, with children ranging in age from 2-1/2 to 5 years old, according to its website, but goes beyond typical daycare adding an educational touch.
"We are academic, but the children are taught in a way that it's really fun and easy,"— Director Sue Kaczmarek said.
Kaczmarek described the organization's teaching style as "self-corrective," in that the the children can see themselves if they’ve completed a task correctly or not, for example. "It's a lot of hands-on," she said.
Children at Amy Montessori School will "learn the factual information in reading, writing, mathematics, science, geography, and history," the website said.
"I think parents choose this school because their looking for an educational-based program … they want to start their children right away in that kind of environment and then continue, where as some schools would be more social or play based," Office Manager Honey Szymanski said.

Children who go through the program land in a variety of places, either public or private schools and in communities such as New Berlin, Menomonee Falls, Muskego and Waukesha.
Szymanski said the school does its best to foster a strong relationship with the parents who choose the program,.

“We know how it is on the parents to entrust their kids into a program, and I think we always have a real open door policy," she said.
