Brookfield Police Lt. 'Deeply Touched' By Generosity of Waukesha Community
Waukesha Police Department and Waukesha Fire Department helped raise money for a brother in blue on Friday.
When Waukesha police officers beat Waukesha firefighters 66-64 Friday night, it wasn't all just about basketball.
A portions of the proceeds from the fundraiser at Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha will help Brookfield Police Lt. Tom Vento who is fight a rare and deadly cancer. Vento, who is married with two children, has had 14 surgeries with the most recent being in January.
"We are deeply touched, and this certainly helps," Vento told the crowd Friday night. "It has been a long road and hopefully something we can say is part of our past."
Camp Timberlee's burn victim camp was also a recipient of donations from Friday's fundraiser.
