UPDATE: Officer, Teenager Injured in Crash Near Brookfield Square

2-vehicle accident on Moorland Road happened when police officer was in pursuit of a shoplifter. There were no serious injures.

Two people — a teenage girl and a Brookfield police officer — were injured Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash just outside Brookfield Square.

The accident on Moorland Road happened at 12:35 p.m. when the officer was pursuing a vehicle after a reported retail theft, according to Patch's media partners at WISN 12 News.

The police sport-utility vehicle was crashed into by another car, not the vehicle being pursued, WISN reported.

An officer was treated for minor injuries at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital and released. A teenage girl was treated and released at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, WISN said.

A light pole near the south exit of the mall was knocked over, and traffic in both directions was slowed while crews cleaned up the wreck.
