Jenn Breitbach, Lead Designer at Snapdragon of Elm Grove, seeks second Professional Designer of the Year award from state florists group

Elm Grove, Wis. – Jenn Breitbach, Lead Designer at Snapdragon Flowers of Elm Grove, plans to seek a second state title after being named Wisconsin’s 2019 Professional Designer of the Year. Like competitors in so many other venues, though, her quest has been derailed by the coronavirus outbreak.

Breitbach was scheduled to participate in a semifinal design competition March 21 at the Realtors Home & Garden Show at Wisconsin State Fair Park. The show has been canceled.

“We’re disappointed for both Jenn and everyone who would have attended to support her, and promise to provide an update soon on where and when she’ll be competing,” said Rhonda Deaver, owner of Snapdragon Flowers of Elm Grove. “Our customers know that Jenn is an amazing artist, and the crowd at last year’s State Fair finals competition played a big part in her winning this prestigious award as the state’s top designer. Jenn is as humble as she is talented, and beyond grateful to all her backers.”

Deaver asked customers and supporters to vote for Snapdragon as their favorite florist in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Top Choice Awards. Voting runs through April 8.

Breitbach, Lead Designer at Snapdragon since 2016, was recognized as the state’s best in 2019 with the Professional Designer of the Year award from the Wisconsin and Upper Michigan Florists Association. She earned the honor by winning a multi-round semifinal at the WUMFA annual convention, and beating three other designers during a finals competition at the Wisconsin State Fair. She was the first contestant to ever win both the audience vote and a judges’ selection in the State Fair finals.

Breitbach has been a professional floral designer for 14 years. The canceled semifinal would have had her competing against two other qualifiers to design three items, none of which were known ahead. The winner would be chosen by audience vote, and move on to the finals at the 2020 Wisconsin State Fair.

Snapdragon Flowers has been an active member of WUMFA since 2011.
