Clerks Predict Low Turnout for State Supreme Court Race
The high court is the only contest on Tuesday's ballot as few people are running for municipal and school posts.

Brookfield voters heading to the polls Tuesday will find just one race: narrowing the field of candidates running for state Supreme Court.
Three candidates are challenging incumbent Justice David T. Prosser Jr., who has served on the state's high court for 12 years. The challengers are: JoAnne F. Kloppenburg, who has been a litigator and prosecutor at Wisconsin’s Department of Justice since 1989; Joel Winnig, an attorney for more than 30 years; and Maria Stephens, the Appellate Division director for the State Public Defender's office.

The top two vote-getters will advance to the April 5 general election.
There are no local school or municipal primary races on Tuesday, prompting clerks to predict a low turnout.

City Clerk Kristine Schmidt said turnout will likely be about 8 percent, based on the historical turnout of 8 to 10 percent for spring primary elections for Supreme Court and Elmbrook School Board.
"It just is not a race that brings much out," she said.
