The Corners Closed Early Ahead Of George Floyd Protest
Management at The Corners of Brookfield said they closed early Tuesday due to a planned protest Tuesday evening.

BROOKFIELD, WI — A peaceful protest in the memory of George Floyd happened in the Brookfield area on Tuesday night, and a major shopping center closed ahead of time.
According to a Facebook group called Milwaukee Protests, a protest was scheduled starting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Goerke's Corners Park and Ride.
"Wear masks and we will be practicing social distancing to keep everyone safe. Wear sunscreen and bring water as it will be hot," organizers wrote on this Facebook post. "Feel free to have your family or yourself make peaceful protest signs. We will march to the sidewalk in front of Sendiks after taking a knee. We hope to see you and your families there!"

At the #BlackLivesMatter protest at the Corners in the Town of Brookfield. Despite what the dog-whistler would have you think, it's a peaceful protest of concerned community members who recognize systemic racism in their own communities. I'm proud to have joined them. pic.twitter.com/sdsaO5nmgm

“Out of an abundance of caution, The Corners of Brookfield will temporarily close the Town Center beginning today at 2 p.m. The afternoon closure will reduce traffic and congestion in the area of the planned protest at Goerke’s Corners and support the safety of all including those involved and our guests, tenants and residents. We expect to re-open for normal business hours tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3.”
