Driver 'All Over the Road' – and Over the Alcohol Limit

Man isn't so much driving as careening, but he swears he hadn't been drinking. A breath test suggest otherwise.

At 7:43 p.m. July 12, a 32-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving, second offense, after a 911 caller reported him “all over the road” at Blue Mound and Moorland roads.

A nearby officer caught up, followed and saw the driver unable to stay in his lane, weaving back and forth far across the lines. He tried to pull the driver over at Calhoun Road but reported the man just jerked across the lanes the more so and wouldn’t pull over.

Finally, the officer did get him to stop with lights flashing and siren blaring right behind him. The driver swore he hadn’t been drinking, but he reeked of alcohol, had all the signs of impairment, could not walk without weaving around, failed sobriety tests and blew a substantial .17 blood alcohol concentration.

He did admit to officers that he was driving under suspension – which he was, from a previous OWI conviction. For good measure, he was cited for deviating from his lane of traffic.
