Head of Elmbrook Education Foundation Stepping Down
Laura Schmidt leaving her post as executive director after four years of leading the organization.
Laura Schmidt, who has led the Elmbrook Education Foundation for four years, is stepping down as its executive director.
Schmidt has offered to serve on the transition team until a successor can be found.
"I have a passion for Elmbrook and the foundation's role in its continued success. However, it is time for me to pursue other professional interests," Schmidt said in a statement. "I look forward to finding new ways to serve the district and the community as a whole in the future."

The foundation, which was founded in 1958, provides grants to district schools and also has a scholarship program. Since 2001, more than $300,000 in grants have been awarded to the district's 11 schools.
Schmidt came to the foundation in 2008 with a professional background in information technology, organizational management and an MBA in leadership studies after working for Northwestern Mutual for 15 years. She also was active in several community organizations.

"It was the right time in my life to serve Elmbrook in this capacity. My background seemed like a good fit for what the organization needed at that time," she said.
Under her tenure, the foundation established an endowment fund, implemented data management systems, launched a new website and social media presence, and developed new partnerships with area community groups, the organization said.
“The Elmbrook Education Foundation would like to thank Laura for her passion and tireless work," David Frank, president of the foundation, said in a statement. "Under her leadership, the EEF has achieved enormous successes, thanks in a large part to her efforts. It will be a challenge to find someone as enthusiastic as her to fill that role going forward."
Added Superintendent Mark Hansen: "Laura’s vision and leadership will be greatly missed, and we’re grateful for her determined dedication toward advancing the foundation’s goals."
The organization is now seeking a new executive director, which is a salaried position. Potential candidates should contact board member Tom Palzewicz, who will head up the search committee, at tompalzewicz@actioncoach.com.
