Home Invasion in Elm Grove Prompts Call to Lock Doors

The Elm Grove police department says residents should lock doors to help prevent burglaries, even while homes are occupied.

A home invasion Saturday night in Elm Grove has police cautioning residents to keep their doors locked even while they are home.

Someone entered an unlocked door to a home in the 700 block of Brinsmere Drive sometime between 8:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday, stealing a wallet, money and black carrying bag, police said.

The invasion occurred shortly after Elm Grove's villagewide trick-or-treating, which was held from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

"This is a reminder to be vigilant to your surroundings and that it is important to LOCK YOUR DOORS at all times, including when you are home," Elm Grove police said in a website alert. "Home invasions can be dangerous to all."
