Hundreds Show for Sileno Quarry Meeting

A public hearing regarding the proposed project at the Sileno Quarry in Brookfield was held Monday.

A majority of the crowd at a public hearing regarding the proposed project at the Sileno Quarry in Brookfield voiced concerns against the project.

Hundreds showed to the meeting on Monday night, according to ElmGroveNow.com. While many were supportive of the long-term plan of building a park in the area, most were against the 5 plus years of construction involved in the plans.

The proposal is to use the space as an area to dump "clean fill material," from highway projects, that would eventually shape the land and prepare it for development. A 60-acre park as well as a residential area are proposed for the space; the site is a total of 85-acres, which includes a 23-acre quarry lake.
