Long Lines at Jimmy John's for $1 Subs

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jimmy John's is saying 'thank you' with a customer appreciation deal to feed the masses.

Order any of the eight-inch subs, numbers one through six for just $1.

Lines of 75 people inched out the Jimmy John's Brookfield location near Capitol Drive and North 124th Street, the same experience happening across Milwaukee for the lunch deal.

"We saw it on Facebook and planned for it," said Kayla Casalena, 18, of Menomonee Falls, who came with her mom and a friend. They said they prefer Jimmy John's's subs over other well-known sub sandwich chains.

Manager Nick Gorman said his story started selling the buck-subs at 10:50 a.m. because people already were waiting.

"We had a bunch of people lined up," Gorman said, taking a quick break to talk. "Since then it's been a line all along. It's been fun."

Six extra employees were on hand to work the various food and service lines, boosting the normal three staffers per line, he said.

So did he make a sub-full of money when Jimmy John's did this about six months ago? Not really, he said. But he hopes it translated to new and repeat customers and a lot of good will.
