Man Shot In Head In Brookfield, 78-Year-Old Arrested

The 78-year-old is believed to have had prior business dealings with the victim, according to City of Brookfield Police.

BROOKFIELD, WI—A 52-year-old man was shot in the head Wednesday afternoon in the 13800 block of West Burleigh Road in Brookfield, according to a news release.

The 52-year-old man was walking to his car when he was confronted by an armed man, police said.

According to witness statements and evidence recovered on scene, three rounds were fired at the victim and his car. After firing his weapon, the suspect fled and entered a parked, light colored sedan, police said. He was seen speeding southbound on Lilly Rd from the area of West Burleigh Road, the news release said.

Police said they identified the suspect's car through video surveillance and identified the suspect himself. He is a 78-year-old male who resides in the Village of Greendale and is believed to have had prior business dealings with the victim, according to police.

With the assistance of the Greendale and City of Beloit Police Departments, the man was taken into custody without incident on Thursday at 12:41 a.m., in the City of Beloit. The City of Brookfield Police Department will be presenting attempted homicide charges to the Waukesha County District Attorney’s Office, the release said.

The victim is currently being treated at an area hospital with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries. No further information will be released until charges are issued.
