Memorial Day 2019: Brookfield, Elm Grove Ceremony Time, Location

BROOKFIELD, WI — Memorial Day is Monday, May 27. For some, Memorial Day is an extra day off of work filled with family gatherings, an outdoor celebration or a chance to get that garden or landscaping work done.

But for all of us, Memorial Day is exactly that, a day set aside to honor the memories of friends, family and loved ones who lost their lives serving our country in the armed forces.

Details for Brookfield and Elm Grove Memorial Day festivities:

Brookfield — A Memorial Day ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. at the historic Oak Hill Cemetery, 3500 N. Brookfield Road.

The ceremony will include live patriotic music, and speeches by historian Stephen Hauser, mayor Steve Ponto and Brookfield Academy students.

At noon, the Brookfield Civic Chorus will perform a Memorial Day concert in the Chapel of the Chimes at the Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive.

Elm Grove — Elm Grove's annual Memorial Day parade will start at 10:30 a.m. from Elm Grove Park, 13600 Juneau Blvd. The parade route heads north on Legion, east on Elmhurst Pkwy, then turns south onto Church Street, west on Watertown Plank Road and then turns back south again onto Elm Grove Road before ending at Wall Street.

At noon and lasting until 3 p.m., the Elm Grove Men's Club is hosting a Block Party for Vets at 3200 Watertown Plank Road. There will be cookout fare and beverages available.
