Police Investigating Suspected Embezzlement
The detective bureau is investigating whether a bookkeeper of a Brookfield business on Capitol Drive stole more than $200,000 over four years.
A bookkeeper for a Brookfield business embezzled $224,964 over four years, the business told police who are investigating the case.
According to police reports, an official with a West Capitol Drive business came to the Brookfield Police Department Wednesday to report suspected employee theft.
The official said the 52-year-old female bookkeeper had wrote unauthorized checks to herself totaling $224,964 between August 2008 and May 2012 when she allegedly confessed to the embezzlement, police reports say.
