Police Report: Niece Stole Wedding Ring on Christmas Day, Gun Theft

A loaded handgun was among the items stolen from an Edwards Street home over the holidays, police say.
A man came home about 10 a.m. Friday to find his home in the 1200 block of Edwards Street had been burglarized, according to police reports. The man said the break-in must have occurred in the past hour.

Someone broke a lock on the overhead garage door and kicked in an interior to the house. The man said his loaded black 22-caliber semiautomatic handgun worth about $500 was stolen, as were about $3,000 in old coins and $560 in cash.

Niece steals wedding ring on Christmas Day: On Christmas Day, a 23-year-old woman stole her aunt's wedding ring and two other rings worth $3,600 from a Neuberry Court home, say police who plan to seek felony theft charges against the woman. All three rings were found, one at a Watertown pawn shop in Watertown and the other two at a Watertown jewelry store.
Underage drinking: Four teens, ages 18 and 19 were cited for underage drinking and fifth for absolute sobriety violation after police stopped a car at 1:37 a.m. Saturday at West Greenfield Avenue and South Moorland Road.
Car theft at Bougey's: A man called police at 2:27 a.m. Saturday to say someone stole his 2006 Chrysler 300 from the parking lot while he was inside 16760 W. Greenfield Ave. He said someone might have taken his keys inside the bar. Police listed the vehicle as stolen.
Does anyone pay attention to car alarms? They do if they go off at 3 a.m. A woman called police at 3:24 a.m. Saturday to say a car alarm had been going off for the past five minutes in her Oak Grove Road neighborhood. Officers found the car and the homeowner who was working to disconnect the malfunctioning alarm.
Theft of driveway markers: Driveway markers were reported stolen from two homes on Bradford Lane Thursday afternoon; one home lost 11 markers, the other, 30.
Coyote sightings: Residents on Brook Springs Drive, Lynnwood Lane and Sheffield Road reported seeing a coyote or wolf Saturday morning. One man thought the coyote's right leg was injured, as it crossed Sheffield toward Sunny Slope Road.
Suspicious: A woman in the 2400 block of Keats Drive told police a woman in a dark, full-length coat had stood in her yard taking photos of her house before driving away in a darker sedan about 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
Officer Friendly (good Samaritan): After police received a report that an elderly man was having trouble walking and carrying heavy shopping bags near Culvers on North 124th Street about 3 p.m. Saturday, an officer gave the man a ride to his Burleigh Road apartment and helped him up to his door.
Tanning theft: A woman tried to steal a body mist product and might have stolen an employee's wallet before fleeing , 12621 W. North Ave., about 4 p.m. Saturday. An employee saw the stolen product and recovered it before the woman left but later discovered her wallet was missing.
No underage drinking party: An anonymous caller told police about 11 p.m. on New Year's Eve that there was a suspected underage drinking party being held in the 19700 block of Kilkee Court while the parents were out of town. But officers found adults on scene and no underage drinking.
It was warm out but not that warm: About 3:30 a.m. New Year's Day police found a shirtless, intoxicated 19-year-old man behind , 1260 S. Moorland Rd. Turns out he had two warrants for his arrest through the Waukesha County sheriff's department and got a ride to the Waukesha County Jail.
Stinky crimes? A man stole at least 10 bottles of cologne from , 115 S. Moorland Rd. about 6:15 p.m. Monday, fleeing in a marroon Chrysler, store security told police. Last Thursday, Sears security chased and caught another man, 36, stealing five cologne bottles, who police arrested for retail theft.
Sign theft: No, not political signs. Aluminum signs were stolen from the yard at , 4085 N. 128th St. sometime between Dec. 20 and 28 by someone who climbed a fence.
Road rage: A Waukesha woman complained a car had cut off her vehicle and the driver tailgated her and called her obscene names after she swore at him, on Capitol Drive near Lilly Road about 9:30 a.m. Thursday. The man said they both cut each other off and said the woman got out at a red light and threatened that she had a gun in her vehicle. The officer talked again to the woman, who denied that, saying she had no gun nor concealed carry permit. Police warned both drivers about disorderly behavior.
Woman disorderly at Bravo bar: Police issued a municipal disorderly conduct citation against a 49-year-old Brookfield woman for continually swearing and yelling at the bar at restaurant about 6 p.m. Thursday.
Car break-in at work: An employee at , 15740 W. Capitol Dr., told police someone damaged her passenger door to enter her car and stole an overnight bag that contained a phone charger, laptop speaker and clothes. The theft occurred while she was working between 4 and 10:30 p.m. Dec. 27.
Counterfeit checks: Police arrested a 35-year-old man they say tried to cash a counterfeit check for $1,451 at U.S. Bank, 205 N. Moorland Rd., about 1 p.m. Dec. 27. He was taken to Waukesha police for questioning about other counterfeit checks and suspects.
Credit card theft at work: An employee at , 12735 W. Capitol Dr., said her credit card must have fallen out of her pocket and someone stole it between 1 and 2 p.m. Dec. 27. The card was already used for an illegal purchase in Milwaukee before she canceled it.
