These Animals Are Up For Adoption At The Elmbrook Humane Society

BROOKFIELD, WI — June is Adopt-A-Cat month and the Elmbrook Humane Society has both cats and dogs up for adoption that are looking for their forever homes.

Heather Gehrke, the executive director of the local humane society, said that the shelter sees 1,500 animals a year and 98 percent of these animals are placed for adoption and listed available.

The shelter is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and lists its adoptable animals online. Interested people can look at cats, dogs and small animals at any time and fill out adoption forms online.

Here are some cats and dogs in this week's spotlight and up for adoption right now, including descriptions from the humane society:

Harmony

Harmony is a female domestic shorthair cat. She's three years old and is living in foster care. BEHS said that she prefers a home with older children or adults only. "She took some time to come out of her shell in foster care and is looking for someone who will appreciate her just the way she is," the service said.

Dozer

Dozer is a male domestic shorthair. He's six years old and living with the humane society. The service said that he's a smart and cuddly cat who enjoys food puzzles and treat hunts.

Hank

Hank is a male Shepherd mix. He's two years old and living with the humane society. The service said that he has a lot of energy, so a home able to train him is preferred. Hank prefers quieter dogs and puppies to play with.

Pixie

Pixie is a Boxer mix. She's two years old and living with the humane society. The service said she's a year old and loves walking around the yard. She's currently working on walking on a leash and sitting for snacks.
