Thinking of Selling Your Home? Professional Tips for You!

My name is Allison Quartuccio, and I’m the Broker/Partner at Denali Realty Group. The real estate market is hot, and I’m here to share some professional tips on how to take a good look at your home and staging it. This can be in preparation for selling, or just to update things.

Ever wonder why some homes sit on the market for months and some fly off within minutes? The sellers market we are currently in seems unprecedented, and you don’t have to do anything more than put a sign in your yard (and in some cases, you don’t even need to do that!) But what happens when we balance back out to a “normal” market? Let’s face it, selling a home is overwhelming, even when you know you are ready for it. It doesn’t have to be, though. Having a plan and giving yourself the time to follow your plan can alleviate stress.

When you get ready to place your home on the market for sale, it becomes a product...and just like any product on the shelves at your local store, it has features and benefits/pluses and minuses, and there are other products to compare. To gain an edge in your marketplace, you must be priced right and look better than the competition. It really is as simple as that, and the true benefit of using a real estate professional. We don’t have an emotional connection to your home and can provide constructive feedback based on what we have experienced in the market. Sometimes it’s difficult to think of a home as a mere product, but it helps to think that way so that you can get top dollar for your property and sell it in a reasonable amount of time.

When you sell your home, you’re going to have to move. When you move, you’re going to have to pack. Not rocket science but an important item to keep top of mind. Keep it simple. Most of the principles of home staging just mean that you’re going to pack up some of your things early. It’s a little bit of work, but you’re going to have to do it anyway, so let’s do it now so you can get top dollar for your property!

In the coming weeks, I’ll go into more detail on staging various parts of your home and property in the thought that you can use these tips at any time. And I’ll provide answers to frequent questions I get as a Realtor.
