MILWAUKEE, WI — The National Weather Service has issued a weather alert for Thursday as scattered thunderstorms will affect southern Wisconsin this afternoon, between noon and 7 p.m.

Potential Hazards

Large hail of 1 to 2 inches, Damaging wind gusts to 70 miles per hour, and an isolated tornado. Brief heavy rainfall but widespread flooding not expected.

South central, southeast and east central Wisconsin.Timing & Duration: Between noon and 7 pm.

Potential tree and minor structural damage. Damage to crops from hail and high winds.

Certainty and Considerations

High certainty on thunderstorms affecting southern Wisconsin. Medium certainty on a few storms producing severe weather.

Timing

The National Weather Service says the storms will reach the Milwaukee and Madison area between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. today, and will reach the Waukesha, Racine and Kenosha areas between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m .
