Town's Free Skate Night Rolls On

Town Chairman Keith Henderson hits the floor with about 75 residents to enjoy the annual event.

Town Chairman Keith Henderson was among those circling the disco-sparkled wooden floor at the 's annual Skate Night Sunday evening.

About 75 residents attended the family event at , with admission picked up by the town's Park and Recreation Department. Residents only had to pay $2 for skate rental if they didn't bring their own wheels. 

Megann Herbst said she and her three sons came to the skate event last year and her two eldest sons got hooked on roller skating, now going almost every Friday night. Her youngest, Danny, 5, did a much better job staying up on his skates this year, she said.

"I think it's just neat to see some of the same people here as last year," Herbst said. "People are just trying it. You don't have to be good at it. It's just fun."

Asked why the town chooses to sponsor the event, Henderson said: "It's a great way to break up the winter, to get everybody out and help them have some fun."
